Product Reviews 101:
CSI Course, Spring 2025
Course Description. Is now a good time to earn money creating product reviews for Amazon, YouTube, and TikTok? YES!!! But it’s not the gold rush it was way back in 2023. It requires hard work and consistent effort, but no startup funds, minimal skill, and only a few hours each week. In short, it’s something almost anyone can do. In this course I walk you through each step of becoming a product reviewer with the goal of helping you earn an additional $500 to $5000/month.
Format. I’ve set up 15 weekly modules (just like I do with my college courses). Each module will have two lectures, with a solo lecture released on Tuesday and a guest lecturer featured on Thursday (2:30 MST). The solo episodes will walk you step-by-step through one element of being a product reviewer while the guest interviews will go into greater depth about that element while sharing a different perspective or approach. In addition to each lecture video there will be a homework assignment and additional resources.
Learning Objectives. If students complete the homework for each module they can expect to have a YouTube channel with 100+ review videos by the end of the course, an Amazon Affiliate account, and a high liklihood of being accepted into the Amazon Influencer Program. Students will also have a greater understanding of how affiliate marketing works, how to create useful videos, and have to improve their personal brand.

Mr. C. has 20+ years experience as an elementary, middle school, and university instructor. He currently teaches future teachers and he LOVES his day job. Product reviews and other side hustles make it possible to continue working as a teacher (teachers aren’t paid enough) while also providing for his family of six.
Module 1: Introduction
In this first module I overview the course, share what I have done to make money as a product reviewer, and answer the questions “How do you do it?” and “How do you make time to do it?”
Module 2: Set up Social Media (YouTube)
Stop putting off your dream of becoming a YouTube product reviewer! In this video, I’m showing you how to create a professional-looking YouTube channel in just 30 minutes. You’ll see me set up a channel from scratch and upload my first videos in REAL TIME. I’ll also explain why YouTube is essential for reviewers and how easy it is to get going with no experience.
Module 2b: Mailbag
In this episode I answer the questions asked over weeks 1-2 of the Product Reviews 101 course. These are questions that were submitted via the comments section on the YouTube channel @CreatorSideIncome. Questions include:
- Are creator connections payments made after two months or after the campaign ends?
- Do you link to the same Amazon Storefront from multiple review channels on YouTube?
- Is it better to create a single catch-all review channel or have multiple niche review channels?
- How do you get offsite commissions?
Module 3: Building a Brand
In this module I share some of the easy first steps on building an online brand around product reviews. In the first lecture, “Unlock YouTube Growth for Product Reviews”, I share 6 simple steps to help you grow your new YouTube channel for product reviews. I also discuss the advantage of having a small niche review channel in addition to a larger general channel.
In the second video I interview school teacher Becky Park (@BeckyParkCo), who has earned double her teaching salary (over $150k) through her various side hustles, which revolve around reselling. She shares her journey in side hustles and how building an online brand is similar to building a music program. It’s an inspiring story and message.
